Where FAST University Students Actually Live – A Hostel Guide
Getting into FAST is the first challenge. Finding a decent place to live near campus is the second one.
I’ve been through this. So have hundreds of other guys. FAST’s campus is in H-11, which is a great academic area but has almost no student housing. So everyone ends up in the sectors around it. If you’re looking for a hostel near FAST Islamabad, you’re almost certainly going to end up in I-11.
The I-11 Advantage
I-11 is literally right next to H-11. The border between them is just a road – Park Road. From most I-11 hostels to the FAST gate is a 5-10 minute ride on a bike.
This matters more than you’d think right now. Here’s why:
When you have a 9 AM class and a 2 PM lab with a gap in between, being 5 minutes from your room means you can go back, eat, nap, and still make it on time. When you’re pulling an all-nighter for a CS assignment and realize you need your laptop charger, it’s a 5-minute round trip, not a 30-minute one. When the canteen food gets old (and it will), you can go back to your room and make something.
A friend of mine stayed in G-11 during his first semester. The commute was 20 minutes each way. He switched to I-11 in semester two and said it felt like he gained two hours every day.
What FAST Students Should Prioritize in a Hostel Near FAST Islamabad
Every student is different, but after watching countless guys go through this, here’s what actually matters for someone at FAST:
WiFi – This Is Not Optional
FAST coursework involves a lot of online work. Assignments, research, submissions. A hostel that says “WiFi available” but has 40 guys sharing one connection is going to be unusable during peak hours. At Ibrahim Hostel, we use separate per-floor fiber connections to avoid this problem.
What to ask: Is there a separate connection per floor? What’s the backup when Nayatel goes down? Can I test the speed during evening hours?
A Quiet Place to Study
FAST is demanding. You need a hostel where studying is respected. Ask current residents: is there a quiet hours rule? Does anyone enforce it? Are there guys who treat the common room like a party space all night? Our 10-point hostel checklist covers this in detail.
Location Specifics – Not Just “I-11”
“I-11” covers a wide area. A hostel on the Kashmir Highway end of I-11 is 15 minutes from FAST by bike. One near the H-11 border is 5 minutes. Check the actual location on Google Maps before committing. Our student hostel page has our exact location.
Food That Works for Long Days
When you have back-to-back classes from 8 AM to 4 PM, breakfast and dinner timing matters. Ask when meals are served. If breakfast is at 7:30 and you have an 8 AM class, you’ll miss it every day.
Typical Prices Near FAST (2026)

The I-11 Hostel Reality
Most hostels in I-11 are converted houses. Someone bought a house in the sector and turned it into a hostel. Quality varies a lot:
- Newer conversions (less than 2-3 years old) tend to be better
- Hostels with fewer rooms = fewer people = less noise
- Ones where the owner lives on-site are usually better managed
- Check the bathroom first. Always. If the bathroom isn’t clean during a visit, imagine what it’s like normally
Ibrahim Hostel – Built for Students
Ibrahim Boys Hostel is in I-11/2, about 5 minutes from FAST. It’s run by Professor Yahya – he taught at IIUI and Abasyn University for 25 years before starting the hostel. He’s been a teacher long enough to understand what students actually need.
Rooms: 1-seater to 4-seater, PKR 18,000 – 28,000. WiFi is per-floor (separate connections). Security is CCTV plus a guard. The mess is home-style – you get proper food, not cafeteria reheats. Students near NUST can check our dedicated NUST page, and those at Air University or Bahria can see our Air/Bahria page.
They have 360+ Google reviews with a 4.5 rating. For a hostel, that’s unusual. You can read the reviews yourself.

Other Areas FAST Students Consider
E-11 – Slightly more expensive and slightly farther. If you have a bike and want newer surroundings, it’s worth looking at.
G-11 – 15-20 minutes from FAST. More purpose-built hostels but the commute adds up. Fine if you don’t mind the travel, but most guys end up moving closer after a semester.
In I-11 itself, we also offer a guest house for short stays and accommodation for working professionals.
